Our Jetty

The pale sun soaked boards smoothed soft by the feet of many memories

begin to thrum a steady beat under me and my splashing toes

louder and louder until his leap and whooping dive drenches me

blue crystal mirror

circled by cricket laughter

filled with white swan clouds

promising summer pleasure

beckoning with winking waves

but....

Olivia’s heels clicked mercilessly against the pavement. The rain tip-toed across her umbrella trying to get out of her way, her fingers gripping the handle in a velvet vice. Inside the doeskin gloves, they still tingled from the slap she had laid across Gerald’s surprised cheek. She could still hear his pleading tones “..but Olivia!...”

hugs

Two making a world of one
For a heartbeat
For eternity
is where you end is where
I begin is where you end is
where I begin is where you
end is where I begin is where you
Running all fifty yards to you …forgetting to breathe …holding you …still not breathing…
I didn't know how much
until I held you to me

Hold me
Like you know
This moment
Is my life

Oh what a Boobie!

The air was filled with the sounds of fists thudding into flesh as Captain America gave the evil Martian Mastermind a beating he would not soon forget. Groans exploded from his bloodied lips with each blow. Summoning the last of his strength, the villain pointed..

Gasp  ”Look! Titties!”

It was a great day for Mars….

“.. then the prince and princess rode to the beautiful castle on the hill and lived happily ever after.”

“That true mummy?”

“Of course sweetheart.”

“Did Daddy have a horse too?”

“”uh huh..”

“Where’s daddy’s armor now?”

“err..”

“Do you still have your princess tiara mummy?”

“Sold it on ebay .. now go to sleep!”

oops..

Polite dinner chatter

Mind over matter

Eyelashes flutter

Over the butter

He gives a wink

passing the drink

mouths take sips

eyes watch lips

she makes giggle

he makes wiggle

five fingers feel

under the meal

feet lose shoes

whose is whose?

Knees  go wide

table cloth slide

 falling forks clatter

red wine splatter

..oh…

Passion, enchantment, color ~ artist Ton Schulten

I am in love with the joyfulness of these paintings. They are large in real life, and so bright. Colorful, and yet not loud, but peaceful..

Amazing to me to read in his biography, that he gave up a successful career in advertising to concentrate fully on his painting..'his first love', but soon after in 1991..

A turbulent year. In January, Ton Schulten exhibits abroad for the first time, in Florence. In October, Ank and Ton Schulten are involved in a serious car accident whilst on holiday in Tenerife. Their friend, Ben Griepink from Ootmarsum, is killed in the accident. This is a turning point in their lives. After a long period of recovery, Ank and Ton manage to pick up the thread of their lives, but it will never be the same again....

The fact that he kept his vision and began creating works with such vibrancy after such a setback so early in his career as an artist..I find that inspiring!

Ton Schulten, a painter from Ootmarsum in the Netherlands, has been creating his distinctive and colourful landscape mosaics since the early 1990’s.
This website shows you his work, and the zest for life and optimism it conveys. The work of Ton Schulten cannot really be described in one word. It has expressionist overtones, yet is in a class of its own. This is what Ton Schulten intended right from the start: he wanted to paint in a style that had not been seen before. He builds up his compositions using broad, vertical bands of colour. Like a child playing with building bricks, the artist Ton Schulten systematically builds his mystical mosaic landscapes which, admittedly, only exist in his mind but are always inspired by the repoussoir landscape of Twente. To him, red is the colour of warmth; green is about nature and its wonderful scents. Yellow and orange stand for joyfulness - the sun! Ton Schulten says: 'I let things happen, things that are impossible but have a fascinating effect. This makes for an ongoing new, creative process'.
